Sri Lanka have confirmed their playing XI for the first Test against New Zealand which will commence tomorrow (18th September) at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
The hosts have made two changes to the playing XI that featured in the victorious Test against England at the Oval.
Sri Lanka have brought in two spinners – Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis to the side leaving out two seamers – Vishwa Fernando and Milan Rathnayake.
It’s a no brainer as Galle pitch is considered to be a spin bowlers’ paradise and seamers will hardly get any assistance.
Dinesh Chandimal is set to bat at No. 3 while the run-machine Kamindu Mendis has got a well-deserved promotion at No. 5. Kusal Mendis will take the gloves and occupy the No. 7 position in the batting order.
