Oshada Fernando’s brilliant century helped Sri Lanka ‘A’ put on a strong reply against South Africa ‘A’ on Day 2 of the first unofficial Test between the sides played today (9th September) at Kimberley.

The day 2 began with South Africa ‘A’ on 294/4 but their lower order didn’t contribute much with the bat as they lost the remaining 6 wickets for just 78 runs.

The speedster Eshan Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka ‘A’ as he grabbed 4 wickets for 65 runs while Isitha Wijesundara, Chamika Gunasekara and Nishan Peiris shared the remaining 6 wickets between them.

In reply, the visitors managed to put on a strong reply with the bat, posting 232/4 at the close of play on Day 2. The opening batter Oshada Fernando smashed 122 runs off 146 balls with 21 fours while the skipper Pasindu Sooriyabandara contributed with vital 61 runs.
