On a commanding Day 3 at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin, Australia ‘A’ showcased their batting prowess, resuming their first innings at 76/1 and finishing the day at an impressive 379/3 against Sri Lanka ‘A’.

The standout performer was opener Jake Weatherald, who anchored the innings with a masterful 183 runs off 275 balls. His knock was studded with 16 fours and two sixes, blending resilience with flair. Weatherald’s marathon effort ended when he fell to off-spinner Nuwanidu Fernando, but not before leaving an indelible mark on the game.

Supporting him brilliantly was captain Jason Sangha, who remained unbeaten on 121 runs off 206 balls, including nine fours and a six. The pair forged a formidable 209-run partnership for the third wicket, dismantling the Sri Lankan bowling attack and setting a solid foundation for Australia ‘A’.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ struggled to contain the rampant Australian batting line-up, with Nuwanidu Fernando, Asanka Manoj, and Nishan Peiris each claiming a solitary wicket.

With just one day remaining in the four-day match, Australia ‘A’ trail by a mere 106 runs with seven wickets still in hand, firmly in control of the contest.
