SLRFU to take over schools league

ThePapare learns that the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union is to take over running of the so highly competitive schools league from the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Associations (SLSRFA)

However, it is also learned that the SLSRFA is vehemently refusing to agree to this matter.  The members who comprise mainly of school teachers are said to be standing firm in protest against the move.

The schools in the top league who have continuously protested at the SLSRFA’s mis-management of affairs have expressed their displeasure and maintained that they will stick with traditional fixtures instead of part-taking in the badly-run schools league if its run by the SLSRFA.

It is also reported that both the Education Ministry under whose purview the league exists presently and the Sports Ministry to where it would be moved, are in agreement for the move, for the betterment of the Sport in general.

ThePapare.com on many a past occasion has highlighted the incompetence of these school teachers to run what is actually the national nursery for Rugby.

The rugby community as a whole has been holding its breath for this turn of events and it would be a collective dream of everyone concerned to have it come to pass and have the now well-aligned SLRFU to be left to run all matters concerning rugby.
