The Old Dharmapalians Sports Club were crowned champions of the SLC Tier B Clubs Invitational T20 Tournament 2023 as they beat Moratuwa Sports Club in the Final worked off yesterday (22nd December) at Navy Grounds Welisara.
After been put into bat first, Moratuwa Sports Club were restricted to 120/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Janidhu Jayawardana was the star performer with the ball for the Old Dharmapalians as he picked up 4 wickets for 18 runs in his 4-over spell.
The target of 121 seems easily chaseable on paper, but the Old Dharmapalians had to work hard in the run chase as they got over the line in the final over of the innings, losing 7 wickets.
Tharindu Amarathunga led the way in the run-chase with a vital knock – 34 ,while Sajith de Silva also chipped in with a useful 29 runs at the top of the order.
