SLC Team Yellow registered a 25-run win over SLC Team Red in the first match of SLC T20 World Cup Preparation Tournament played today (2nd May) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
After been put into bat first, SLC Team Yellow posted a mammoth total – 225/3 on the board courtesy of Kusal Mendis’ brilliant century. Mendis hit unbeaten 100 runs off 50 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 200.
Shevon Daniel also stroked a fine half-century – 59 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 143.90.
In reply, SLC Team Red also put on a great show with the bat scoring 200 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis continued his terrific form with the bat, scoring a fighting knock of 82 runs off 48 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 170.83.
The left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage picked up 3 wickets while the speedster Lahiru Kumara grabbed 2 wickets for the victorious SLC Team Yellow.
