Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club registered a 13-run win over Chilaw Marians Cricket & Athletic Club in their Group B encounter of SLC Major Clubs T20 Tournament 2025 played today (28th May) at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.
Due to the prevailing weather conditions, the match was reduced to a 13-over contest. Having been asked to bat first, Nugegoda S & WC faced early setback after losing 3 wickets for just 4 runs in first 2 overs.

However, the skipper Angelo Perera and wicket-keeper batter Akram Muthalib managed to rescue the innings, adding 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
The off-spinner Sammu Ashan was the pick of the bowlers for Chilaw Marians as he grabbed 4 wickets for 25 runs.
Yashodha Lanka and Thanuka Dabare got Chilaw Marians off to a blistering start, putting on 27 runs in 1.4 overs. The wicket-keeper batter Hiran Jayasundara added a quick-fire 16 runs off 11 balls with 2 sixes to sustain the momentum.
