Six more matches of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Overs Tournament 2025 worked off today (1st July) at Colombo and Maggona.

Ashen Bandara struck a sensational century guiding Police Sports Club to their second win of the tournament. Having posted 309 runs for 7 wickets on the board thanks to Bandara’s 98-ball 107 runs, the cops managed to restrict the opposition – Panadura Sports Club for just 169 runs to snatch a convincing win at Police Grounds in Colombo.

Sangeeth Cooray (88), Ravindu Rasantha (71) and Angelo Mathews (52*) hit half-centuries to steer Colts Cricket Club to their first win of the tournament. Manula Kularathne of Colts CC picked up a four-wicket haul to restrict Moors SC to 249 which they chased down in 47.4 overs with 7 wickets in hand.  

Chamika Karunaratne’s blazing half-century guided NCC to a comfortable win over Tamil Union C & AC at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo. The off-spinner Ashian Daniel led the charge with the ball for NCC, snaring 3 wickets for 39 runs as they managed to bowl out Tamil Union C & AC for just 198 runs.  

Karunaratne smashed 86 runs off 72 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes while Niroshan Dickwella set the tone at the top order with a blistering knock – 49 runs off 30 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes in NCC’s successful run-chase.

Traveen Mathew of Ace Capital Cricket Club was the standout bowler of the day, as he snared a five-wicket haul against Badureliya Sports Club in their Group A encounter played at Maggona. In his 9.4-over spell, Mathew claimed 5 wickets for 42 runs.
