Only one out of the six scheduled games for today (27) in the Major Club T20 Tournament saw a result as rain stood in the way of the rest.
Thanks to some terrific leg-spinners from Supun Madushanka who returned brilliant figures of 4 for 24 in 3 overs, the Police SC managed to keep the high riding Tamil Union CAC for just 125 runs. The entire Tamil Union middle-order, including stars like Isuru Udana were accounted for by Madushanka.
Come to the turn to chase the score down, Police SC top-order batters saw it through with ease. Wicketkeeper Dilhara Polgampola made the highest score with 40 runs and remained unbeaten as he was well-supported by Mahesh Priyadarshana who racked up 39 runs for himself.
Experienced spinner Janaka Sampath also had a good day at the office as the leggie picked 3 wickets for 17 runs representing Ragama CC against BRC. But his efforts went in vain as the game was cut short by rain.
