Six matches in the opening week of the SLC Major Club 3-Day League 2025/26 concluded today (8th December), with Colts Cricket Club and Police Sports Club securing convincing victories. The remaining four encounters ended in draws but produced several outstanding individual performances.

Colts Cricket Club registered a comfortable win over Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in their Group A fixture played at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo. Experienced batter Dinesh Chandimal led the way for Colts with a superb knock of 152 runs off 176 deliveries, including 9 fours and 6 sixes. Off-spinner Akila Dananjaya delivered an excellent all-round bowling performance for Colts, finishing with a match bag of 8 wickets for 104 runs.

At Maggona, Police Sports Club claimed an 8-wicket win over Panadura Sports Club in their Group A clash. Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera was the star performer for Police SC, producing a match haul of 11 wickets for 168 runs.

Chasing a target of 258, Priyamal Perera and Dulash Udayanga guided the side home with an unbroken 171-run partnership. Perera stroked an unbeaten 116 off 117 balls, featuring 10 fours and a six, while Udayanga compiled a gritty 88 not out off 190 deliveries with 8 boundaries.

The other four matches ended in draws but showcased several eye-catching batting and bowling displays. Sri Lanka Test captain Dhananjaya de Silva, representing Colombo Cricket Club, struck a century against Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club.

Roshen Silva of BRC reached a significant career milestone, crossing 10,000 first-class runs as he compiled his 29th first-class century in their Group B encounter against Moors Sports Club.

Other players who reached three figures this week included Pasindu Sooriyabandara (Moors SC), Sharujan Shanmuganathan (Tamil Union C & AC), Himasha Liyanage (Ace Capital CC), and Pulindu Perera (Nugegoda S & WC).

On the bowling front, several standout performances were recorded in the drawn games. Nishan Peiris (CCC) picked up a seven-wicket haul, while Madhuka Liyanapathiranage (Nugegoda S & WC) claimed six wickets. Dinushka Malan (Kurunegala YCC) also impressed with a five-wicket haul.
