Despite Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) much hyped pay rise claims in the contracts offered to national cricketers, the members of the national cricket team have refused to sign the contracts.
Sources close to the Sri Lankan team currently in Bangladesh playing the Asia Cup said, the players had refused to sign the contracts and had given out their reasons to the board in an e-mail.
It wasn’t clear what was the reason for national cricketers to refuse to sign the contracts, but it’s understood that SLC had failed to provide the incentives it had promised earlier.
The contracts had been sent to Bangladesh to be signed and sources said the development had been a disruptive element with the team firmly focused on the Asia Cup.
SLC had earlier announced it had made an increase of seven percent from last year’s contracts.
