Sri Lanka Short Course Novices Aquatic Championships 2026 organized by Sri Lanka Aquatics was held from 2nd to 5th July at the Isipathana College Swimming Pool Complex.
The four-day event brought together swimmers from various age groups, who competed for top honours while proudly representing their respective schools and clubs.
The Sri Lanka Short Course Novices Aquatic Championships 2026 was open to swimmers who had not previously secured a top three finish or achieved the prescribed qualifying times at Sri Lanka Aquatics-sanctioned competitions. In addition, swimmers who qualified at the 2026 Novices Long Course Championship were also eligible to compete in the Short Course Novices Championship, ensuring a fair and structured pathway for developing athletes.

A total of 82 schools and clubs participated in the competition. Among them, St. Peter’s College rose to the challenge and claimed the Overall Men’s Championship title with an impressive tally of 430 points.
Piliyandala Central College (253 points) and Nalanda College (171 points) completed the podium, securing the first runners-up and second runners-up positions, respectively.
In the Women’s Championship, Bishop’s College emerged victorious with 194 points. Ladies’ College (171 points) and Musaeus College (147 points) finished as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Overall, the championship was conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of Sri Lanka Aquatics, ensuring a fair, transparent, and highly competitive environment for all participants. The event provided emerging swimmers with valuable racing experience while laying a strong foundation for their future development and progression in the sport.
Accordingly, from a total participation of 884 swimmers, the top 16 swimmers in each event at the Short Course Novices Championship 2026 have qualified to progress to the upcoming Short Course Intermediate Championships 2026.
