St. Sebastian’s College walked out from Galle with first-innings points over Mahinda College in their drawn under 19 division 1 cricket encounter played at Mahinda College grounds.
3 players namely, Muditha Fernando, Avishka Fernando and Lahiru Heshan produced notable performances for the boys from Moratuwa. Mahinda College skipper,won the toss and elected to field on a cloudy Monday morning. Sebs got runs on board thanks to a well-calculated knock of 94 by the left-handed middle-order batsman, Muditha Fernando who got his runs in 178 balls with 12 fours while Sri Lanka under 19 sensation, Avishka Fernando made 47 runs. Seamer Sachika Udara was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets while Tharuka Samarawickrama and Pasindu Dilshan took 2 wickets apiece.
The hosts in their reply faltered badly as they consumed 76.3 overs only to score 142 runs. Middle-order batsman Gihan Dhanushka top-scored with 48 valuable runs while their wicket-keeper batsman Ishara Akalanka made 26 runs. Left-arm spinner Lahiru Heshan mesmerized the batsmen with his accurate spinners which got him 5 wickets. Sebs was 86 for 1 in 22 overs at close of play on Tuesday. Avishka Fernando raced to an unbeaten 53 runs.
