School Cricket Summary: Peterite Dineth Thimodya smashes 173

Sri Lanka under 19 discarded, left-hand opening batsmen from St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, Dineth Thimodya smashed a scintillating 173 in their match against Prince of Wales College at P. Sara Oval grounds on Monday. 

 

The home team amassed 329 all out on a batting friendly surface. Didulana Medis stroked 70 runs while left-arm spinner Thilan Nimesh grabbed a five-wicket haul for the visitors. 

The boys from Moratuwa remained 109 for the loss of 3 wickets at close of play on day one.

Isipathana vs Lumbini

Eighteen (18) wickets fell on day 1 at FTZ grounds in Katunayake in a low-scoring affair between two neighbouring Colombo 5 schools. 

Isipathana after being sent into bat were bundled out for 114 as left-arm spinner Chanaka Devinda claimed 3 wickets. Salinda Ushan and Pramod Maduwantha made 34 and 36 respectively for the Pathana boys.  Off-spinner Pramod Maduwantha bowled a tight spell to grab 5 wickets and helped his team stage a great comeback.

Isipathana College – 114 all out in 46.2 overs: Pramod Maduwantha 36, Salinda Ushan 34, Chanaka Devinda 3/26, Tharushan Iddamalgoda 2/5.

Lumbini College – 82/8 in 49 overs: Pramod Maduwantha 5/14.

 

St. Anthony’s College vs Mahanama College

The Bandara duo (Pulasthi and Dilan) performed exceptionally well for the hosts in Katugasthota as the Anthonians took control of their match against Mahanama College. 

Off-spinner Dilan Bandara scalped four wickets while left-arm spinner Uditha Mahindrarathne took three scalps as Mahanama were bowled out for 181 runs. Malinda Maduranga top scored with 37 runs for the visiting team. The Anthonians in their reply were in a healthy position of 148/5 with left-handed Pulasthi Bandara stroking a half-ton.

Mahanama College – 181 all out in 44.3 overs: Malindu Maduranga 37, Kavindu Munasinghe 31, Dilan Bandara 4/48, Udith Mahindarathne 3/48.

St. Anthony’s College, Kandy – 148/5 in 51 overs: Pulasthi Bandara 50, Niduka Walikala 2/21.
