Sri Lanka A team middle-order batsman Roshene Silva made a brilliant century as Ragama CC defeated Saracens SC by an innings and 159 runs with a day to spare in the AIA Premier League Tournament 2015/16 at Surrey Village grounds in Maggona on Friday.

The match commenced on Thursday with Ragama piling up 333 runs for the first innings. The former Josephian made 9 fours during his marathon innings of 145 of 219 balls. Saracens were haplessly bowled out for 76 and 98 on day two as the Ragama spinners were hard to put away.

Left-arm spin duo of Amila Aponso and Sahan Nanayakkara shared 7 wickets while off-spinner Sanjaya Fernando ended with a 7-wicket match bag.

Ragama – 333 all out in 106.1 overs: Roshene Silva 145, Sameera Zoysa 65, Chathura Peiris 35, Umesh Karunarathne 3/92, Akila Ishanka 2/98, Alankara Asanka 2/31.

Saracens – 76 all out in 22 overs: Mohommad Aslam 27, Sanjaya Fernando 3/26, Sahan Nanayakkara 2/7, Chathura Peiris 2/23.

All other five matches started as usual on Friday. This is the final weekend where group stage action will be played.


Tamil Union vs Chilaw Marians

Sri Lanka ’A’ opener, Dhananjaya De Silva slammed a brilliant 150 as the strong Tamil Union outfit took control in their game against Chilaw Marians at P. Sara Oval grounds.

The right-hander consumed 212 balls to stroke 16 boundaries during his excellent knock of 150 as the hosts’ posted 309 for 2 at close of play.

Moors vs CCC

23 wickets tumbled at CCC grounds but the visitors, Moors lead the game by 166 runs at stumps on day one.

Left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara picked up 8 for 41 as the hosts’ were bowled out for 79 in reply to Moors’ first-innings score of 201.

Colts vs SSC

Two Josephians, Dimuth Karunarathne (SSC) and Priyamal Perera (Colts) starred with the bat on day one at Colts grounds.

The young middle-order batsman Priyamal made 83 off 117 balls as he guided Colts to 225. In reply, SSC were 123 for 3 with experienced opener Dimuth unbeaten on 60.
