Richmond College, Galle booked their place in the final of the Under-19 Division 1 Tier ‘A’ Limited Overs Tournament 2025/26 with a commanding victory over Gurukula College, Kelaniya in the semi-final encounter played today (31st October) at the Boyagane Army Cricket Grounds.

After winning the toss, Gurukula College opted to bat first but struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Richmond bowling attack. Skipper Denura Dimansith stood firm amidst the collapse, crafting a fighting knock of 79 runs off 102 deliveries which included six boundaries and a six. However, with little support from the other end, Gurukula were eventually bowled out for 174 runs.

Richmond’s bowling unit produced a well-rounded performance with Nethsara Akash Hewa, Tenusha Nimsara, and Hiruk Akalanka each claiming two wickets apiece to keep the opposition in check.

In reply, the boys from Galle made light work of the chase, reaching the target in 42 overs with five wickets in hand. The chase was anchored brilliantly by Tenusha Nimsara (59*) and Bevin Jayawardhana (57*), who forged a match-winning 110-run partnership for the sixth wicket after early setbacks.

With this impressive all-round display, Richmond College advanced to the grand final, where they will face Mahanama College in what promises to be a thrilling title clash.
