One of the country’s premier sporting powerhouses, Havelock Sports Club, has re-elected its former player Rajiv Perera as president to lead the club for yet another year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place at the Park Club Clubhouse during the last weekend.
Well-known sporting figure Rajiv Perera is a former D.S. Senanayake College Old Boys Union president and charter president of the Old Senanayakian Sports Club. He succeeded the position from Thusitha Pieris in 2023 and has held the office for the last two years.

Former Peterites Anuja Premaratne and Sri Lanka Outside Centre Graham Raux were also re-elected as vice presidents. Apart from them, the former Thomian Nirupan Wijeratne was elected general secretary, while Mr. Nimal De Silva assumed the duties as the Hony. Treasurer.
Havelock Sports Club’s history dates back to 1915, with Roy Joachim founding the Colombo 5 club, and since then there has been a rich tradition built around its premise. In recent years, Havelock SC rugby outfit was unable to grab any silverware. The last success of the 14-time Clifford Cup-winning club came in 2019 in the absence of the League winners, Kandy SC. Further, they have managed to clinch the Dialog League Rugby Championship way back in 2012.

Under the previous president, there was an initiative to reinstate the Havelocks Sports Club as the People’s Club by giving it wide popularity. Further, it aimed to achieve the status as the number one family rugby club of the island by providing entertainment to a wide range of people, covering each and every family member.
