Trinity College’s former Rugby and Cricket Captain and CR 7 FC No. 08, Tikiri Ellepola, was re-elected as the President for yet another year at the 96th AGM of one of the most prestigious clubs, the Ceylonese Rugby & Football Club, which was held on Saturday (21st June) at the “Scrum-down” Hall, “Home of Rugby” in Longdon Place.
Apart from the incumbent President, several other veteran Rugby personalities were elected to key positions. Former Josephian, CR & FC, and Sri Lanka player Dinuk de S. Wijeyeratne was retained as the Deputy President. Further, former Royal lock forward Janodha Thoradeniya and scrum-half and Skipper of the invincible Royal team of 2002, Zulker Hameed, have been appointed as the two Vice Presidents. The former Josephian, Jakque Diasz, will continue his duties as the Honorary General Secretary, while he will be assisted by Shamal Rodrigo in the capacity of Honorary Assistant General Secretary.
The Honorary Treasurer of the CR & FC will be Janek Jayasekara, while Nuwan De Silva will assume the duties as Honorary Assistant Treasurer. The past President of the Red Shirts remains Ted Hiran Muttiah, a respected and well-known figure in the Sri Lankan Rugby fraternity.
