Middle distance runner W.K.L.A. Nimali has produced an impressive time of two minutes and 05.02 seconds to clinch gold in the women’s 800 metres, while distance runner Geethani Rajasekara has won a second gold medal at the Thailand Open Athletics Championships yesterday, the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka confirmed.
Rajasekara who won women’s 1,500 metres gold earlier in the Championship has won the gold of the 5,000 meres yesterday. She has produced a notable time of 17 minutes and 18.24 seconds.
While Lionel Samarajeewa has won the men’s 5,000 metres silver (14:41.85 seconds), Gayanthika Abeyratne has clocked two minutes and 06.21 seconds to win the silver medal in the women’s 800 metres.
Triple jumper Dinesh Fernando too has won a silver with a feat of 15.98 metres in the men’s triple jump. (RF)
