Poor ground conditions  at the Rudra Park grounds in Wellwatte made the match officials present for the St. Joseph’s College vs Hameed Al Hussain College game to discontinue the game in order to prevent any fatalities.

It was after a long lapse of a month the Kotmale Chox Under 19 Schools Football championship came alive but disappointment reeled in for both the teams as the match officials declared the ground not up to standard for a game of football to be played.  The outfield had not been prepared for the game with many rough patches throughout the ground and the absence of a trimmed grass lawn made the referees from taking play forward. The responsibility of providing a venue with favorable playing conditions entirely lies on the hosting school and this time around the hosts Hameed Al Hussain College are at guilt. It was after a proper ground inspection by the match officials following a concern raised by the St. Joseph’s College coach that the decision was finalized.

The final decision on the outcome of the game will be released within a week after seeking advice from the tournament officials.
