Police Sports Club made mincemeat of Siri Lions as the visitors ran riot, winning 7 (1T 1C) – 43 (7T 4C) in the 4th game of the Maliban Inter Club Rugby League game played at Longdon Place on the 20th December.

It took the Cops 15 minutes to find their footing in the game as both sides felt their way, trying to break through their opponents defences.

Police were minus Prince Chamara and Hafiz Thabith as Siri Lions started the game without Aaron Perera and Dulaj Nawodya.

The Cops opened the scorers through Vihanga Shaveen a he crashed over from a rolling maul to get the first try of the match. Pasindu Tharuka added the extras as he made it a 7-point game. (SL 00-07 Cops)

This opened the flood gates as Police scored three further tries in the first half. Two curtesy Vihanga Pivithuru and one from Vimukthi Perera.

The third rower turned Center, Vihanga Pivithuru was immense in holding the Police line in defence and scoring points when required.

Pasindu Tharuka converted the second try of the game, but failed with the next couple as Police cruised through, holding out Siri Lions scoreless.

The visitors started the second half in similar fashion to how they ended the first, scoring two further tries in the second half through their tireless forwards Vimukthi Perera and Danushka Edirisuriya.

Pasindu converted one and failed with the other as the game was put to bed in the 55th minute. (SL 00-36 Cops)

Siri Lions managed to conjure up a their only as Aaron Perera set up Samuel Provan to score their only try of a dismal game.

Nadun Kaveesha added the conversion but that was that for Siri Lions as their torrid evening continued! (SL 07-36 Cops)

The Cops ended the game with a try of their own to add insult to injury as Rukshan Madusanka scored in the dying embers of the game.

This final try meant Police Sports Club ended on a high, securing their first win of the Maliban Club Rugby League.
