St. Peters College added to the misery of Wesley College as they recorded an innings and 147 run win.
Winning the toss and batting at home (Peter’s grounds) Peters put up a record 357 for 4 in 57 overs as they declared for the first innings. Right-hander Lakshina Rodrigo stared with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 89 while skipper Chandula Jayamanna amassed 81, Didulana Medis scored 72 and left-hander Hashan Wanasekara contributed with 67.
Batting in their first innings Wesley College could have only managed 156 as the Peters bowlers got the better of the Wesley batting. Opener Reshana Senavirathne top scored with 66 for Wesley while off-spinner Vinu Mohotti picked up 3 for 27 for Peters.
Wesley College was asked to follow on and they only scored a mere 54 runs in their second innings handing Peters a thumping win of an innings and 147 runs. Vinu Mohotti excelled with the ball as he picked 6 for 30 and left-arm spinner Ashantha Malka picked 3 for 6.
