Mahinda College thrashed St. Thomas’ College Matara by innings and 104 runs, President’s College overcame Lumbini by 7 wickets while St. Joseph’s College, Colombo took command against St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna in the Singer Schools’ U19 Division I, 2017/18 two-day cricket tournament.

After being asked to bat first Mahinda College scored freely as they posted 292/5d earlier in the game with Ashen Kandamby, Vinura Dulsara and RH Welihinda making fifties in the game played at Matara Uyanwatta grounds. The hosts were completely outplayed as the lads from Galle knocking them over in both innings as Mahinda College won by an innings and 104 runs.

Lumbini College vs President’s College

St Joseph’s College vs St Patrick’s College

St. Joseph’s College, Colombo started their 2017/18 cricket season today against St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna for the Rector’s Trophy at Darley road. Cameron Duruge led the Josephians today with the absence of 4 senior players. Six debutants were included as the Josephians posted a formidable 285/8 inside 64 overs. Johanne De Zilva and Sachintha Mahindasinghe were impressive with the bat as they scored half-tons, while stand-in skipper Camaron Duruge made a solid 42 as the lads from Darley road dominated the opening day.

In reply the visitors were demolished by Ashen Daniel and Dunith Wellalage with the ball as the lads from Jaffna were knocked over for a disappointing 38 all-out in 22.3 overs at stumps. The match will continue tomorrow with St Patrick’s trailing by 247.
