Kamil Mishara stars in drawn game vs Pakistan ‘A’

The first unofficial Test between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ ended in a draw today at Pallekele with the visitors taking major honours.

Pakistan opening batter Saud Shakeel and number three batter Omair Yousuf who had put on an unbeaten 165-run partnership for the second wicket at the close of play on Day 03, resumed the innings for visitors on the final day on 187 for 1.

They got another good start on a fresh day adding 44 more runs on the board before Yousuf lost his wicket on 93, missing out on a well-deserved century. With the dismissal of Yousuf, the 206-run partnership for the second wicket was broken as speedster Asitha Fernando dismissed him when the scoreboard read 231.

Pakistan ‘A’ skipper Shakeel left the ground retired hurt after making 118 runs off 233 balls with 13 fours. Pakistan declared their innings on 324 runs for 2 wickets in 115 overs with a walloping lead of 183.

Kamil Mishara and Lahiru Udara opened the batting for Sri Lanka in the second innings just 6 overs before the Tea break. Mishara and Udara survived the tricky period ahead of Tea putting 31 runs without losing their wickets.

Mishara and Udara continued to impress with the bat even after the Tea break as they put on a 98-run partnership for the opening wicket. Udara was the man dismissed as he lost his wicket after making 28 runs off 46 balls with 4 fours.

The 20-year old Mishara played a magnificent innings as he stroked 98 runs off 97 balls with 19 fours at a very impressive strike rate of 101.03. Sri Lanka had put on 144 runs for 2 wickets when umpires called stumps on Day 04.
