Royal College Colombo and St. Bridget’s Convent won the Novices Diving Championships 2024 held last week at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.

Royal College topped the boy’s overall standings with 78 points while St. Joseph’s College finished 2nd with 39 points. Bridgetians won the girl’s category by being 1 point ahead of last year’s champions – Bishop’s College with 67 points.

87 Participants from 13 schools and clubs took part in this year’s novices under 7 age groups as under 09, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, and open.

Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union also took a new step in diving by implementing a diving levels competition where the beginners must achieve the qualifying standards in order to participate in Novices championships. The level competition includes jumps and line ups which are the fundamentals of diving.

In addition, both Royal and St. Bridget’s also won the overall championships at the Sri Lanka School’s All Island Age Group Novices Diving Championships 2024 organized by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Sports Association on the 23rd of February 2024.
