Bishop’s College, Colombo, and Seenigama Aquatic Club dominated the Novices Swimming Championships 2023, winning the Girls’ and Boys’ overall championships with 65 and 95 total points respectively.
The 3-day meet was organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union, and concluded late in the evening today (27) at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
A team of 29 Bishopians took their school to victory in the Girls’ category, beating Asian International School, the Sri Lanka Schools Novices 2022 winners, by 8 points. In addition to this, the winner of the previous 2 editions, Visakha Vidyalaya, finished 12th in the overall ranking.
While the Seenigama Aquatic Club marked their win in the Boys’ category, Horizon College International finished as the runner-up with 82 points.
The next Swimming event will be the local selection trial for World Aquatic Championships, Youth Commonwealth Games, 19th Asian Games, and 18th Singapore National Championships on the 29th and 30th of April 2023, at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
