Right handed Pathum Nissanka scored the first ‘Double Ton’ of the 2016/17 under 19 schools cricket season as Isipathana College and Richmond College registered innings outright wins today (14th September).

Isipathana College vs President’s College, Rajagiriya

Nissanka’s magnificent 205* guided Isipathana to an innings and one run win over President’s College, Rajagiriya in their traditional encounter at Colts grounds.

Nissanka started day two on 192 and went onto score 13 more runs before the hosts’ declared on 319 for 5 in 60 overs. The visitors after being bowled out for 145 in the first innings gave a stiff fight courtesy a battling 86 by Hiruna Sigera as they managed 173 runs in their second innings. The left-arm spin duo, Madusshika and Lahiru shared 6 wickets amongst them.

Richmond College vs St. Mary’s College, Kegalle

The Richmondites were home for lunch as Sri Lanka U19 fast-bowler Thilanga Udeeshan completed a 10-wicket match bag to beat St. Mary’s College, Kegalle by an innings and 68 runs at Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Udeeshan picked up his second five-wicket haul for the match as he rattled the visitors to 89 runs in their second innings. They were outwitted for 91 in the first innings yesterday.

After being 201 for 7 overnight, the home team ended on 248 for 9 declared. Both the overnight batsmen, Ravishka Wijesiri and Duveen Sasindu reached half-centuries.

Trinity College vs St. Servatius’ College, Matara

The under 19 schools traditional encounter between Trinity College and St. Servatius’ College, Matara is evenly poised at stumps on day one at Asgiriya Stadium.

After being sent into bat first, Trinity College was bowled out for 188. In reply, the visitors were 77 for 4 at stumps.

Ishen Perera and Manthila Wijerathne slammed excellent centuries as S. Thomas’ College took the upper hand at stumps on day one in their under 19 schools traditional encounter against Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya in Pannipitiya.

Perera took 132 balls for his 107 while Wijerathne consumed 179 deliveries for his knock of 102 as the Thomians posted 339 for 7 before restricting the hosts’ to 40/3.
