The Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referee’s (SLSRFR) welcomed the 3 Referees from New Zealand as they began their training programs in the island, and things are set to continue through majority of November.

Sam Fellows, Sam Thompson and Sean Curragh, along with Krishan , visited the island on the 1st of November and have already begun their sessions with the local Match Officials, Coaches and other stakeholders.

They began on the 2nd of November by meeting the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees, and a press conference followed to inform the Media and the general public of this development program done in tandem with the New Zealand Rugby Union, Bay of Plenty Ruby Union and the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees.

The visiting Referee contingent met Top Tier Coaches from schools and clubs, which was followed by a meeting with the Tier 1 A-Panel Match Official and Coach of Match Official (CMO) on the 3rd of November.

On the 4th of November, the visiting referees conducted practical sessions including Game day situations, positioning and communication for the Referees. The session was graced by Ms. Tania Scott, Honorary Counsel for Sri Lanka in New Zealand.

The referees will now head over to Kandy for sessions on the 6th of November and head back down to Colombo for a session on the 8th of November, as the 9th and 10th sees them taking charge of trainings for Coaches from both clubs and schools, with a fitness test on Sunday.
