The unbeaten defending champions of the Singer Schools Rugby League, Royal College be led by the experienced 4th-year player Thulaib Hassen during the 2019 season.

One of the most experienced players in the schools’ rugby arena, Thulaib Hassen has been a consistent performer for Royal in the last two seasons. The Thulaib Hassen-Janidu Dilshan combination has been an integral part of Royal’s success story in the past two years.

His performance in the schools’ rugby arena earned him the call-up to the Sri Lanka Under 20 sevens side that made it to Hong Kong for the Asia Under 20 Sevens series and later finished 3rd.

Known for his aggression in the inside centre position, Hassen will be leading a Royal College team looking to achieve something that no schools team has achieved in the 21st century; win three back-to-back league titles.

The 2019 season will be a very important one for the Royalists with the 75th Bradby Shield encounter also set to take place. Having retained the coveted shield for four years, the lads from Reid Avenue will be aiming to do it for the 5th year.

The 75th Bradby Shield will be played on the 11th and 25th of May 2019.

  • Royal v Wesley – 17 March – Royal Complex

  • Royal v St. Peter’s – 30 March – SPC Grounds
