CR&FC came roaring back into the Maliban Inter-Club Rugby League 2025/26 after a clinical show against a hapless Navy outfit in their week six clash at the Navy Grounds in Welisara  (20th December 2025) .

Eager to make amends after a narrow defeat to their Maitland Place rivals last week, the Red Shirts wasted no time reasserting their title credentials.

Ain the fter a string of penalties brought them within reach of the whitewash, it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Lasindu Karunathilake broke off the back of a 5 metre scrum before Zubair Doray,who played at 10 today, added the finishing touches . (NSC00-05 CR&FC)

Isuru Kongahawatte added the Sailors’ only points of the first half when he slotted home a

regulation penalty won after a no-arms tackle by the CR&FC defence. (NSC 03-05 CR&FC) It was all one way traffic from then on as CR&FC added their second try of the game in the 17th minute after Zubair Doray sliced through the Navy defence before Manilka Ruberu kicked to Ravindu Anjula who finished off the move for the visitors. Thenuka Nanayakkara made no mistake with the conversion. (NSC 03-12 CR&FC)

The forwards of CR&FC then flexed their muscles when Venura Kodagoda broke off the back of a maul which drove all the way upto the 5 metre line, which allowed Senal Adikaram to go over for his teams third try off the very next phase.Nanayakkara once again nailed the conversion.  (NSC 03-19 CR&FC)

The Red Shirts secured the bonus point in the 29th minute when Ruberu brilliantly chased his own kick and forced the turnover deep inside Navy territory. With the defence scrambling the ball was sent through the hands before reaching Senura Perera, who touched down in the corner for his first try of the season to mark his return to the side. Venura Kodagoda added the 5th score for his side on the brink of half time after another impressive rolling maul from CR&FC that drove all the way to the try line from 10 metres out. Nanayakkara added the extras. (NSC 03-31 CR&FC)

CR&FC picked up right where they left off in the second half as they managed to draw a penalty straight from kick-off. After working through a few phases Nirosh Perera dotted down to open the scoring in the second half. Nanyakkara continued his good day off the tee . (NSC 03-38 CR&FC)

CR&FC continued to dominate in the forwards department, as Charith Silva went over the whitewash in the 47th minute after yet another well constructed rolling maul brought them within striking distance. (NSC 03-43 CR&FC)

The visitors then flexed their bench strength in the 55th minute when Naveen Marasinghe barged through for the try, after Afeef Akram gathered a scrappy lineout before the forwards worked through the phases to set up the score for Marasinghe. Nanayakkara nailed the conversion to bring up the half century (NSC 03-50 CR&FC)

Another strong rally from the visitors saw them go over yet again in the 59th minute after winning the ball back inside their own half and seamlessly working their way up the field before Adikaram went over for his second score of the game. Nanayakkara ensured they walked back with all seven. (NSC 03-57 CR&FC)

The Sailors were awarded their first try of the game via a penalty try, after Thilina Weerasinghe leaped to get on the end of a Kongahawatte cross kick inside the in goal area. This infringement also led the referee to give Dimuth Perera a 10 minute stint in the sin bin . (NSC 10-57 CR&FC)

This led to the Sailors finally enjoying their first real stint of possession and territory. They added their second score after Chanaka Jayalath got on the end of a Thilina Weerasinghe grubber, before offloading to Koojana Kulathunga who ran through uncontested.(NSC 15-57 CR&FC)

CR&FC added the icing on the cake when Hashan Madumadhava took a quick tap and caught the Navy defence off guard as he ran right through to touch down for the 10th try for the visitors. Shane Hopwood added the extra two. (NSC 15-64 CR&FC)

CR & FC travel to Police Park next week, while Navy will host a high-flying CH & FC side at Welisara as they continue their search for a first win this season.
