Pasindu Sooriyabandara steals headlines with imperious double century

The ninth week’s matches of National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2023/24 continued for Day 2 at Colombo (RPICS) and Dambulla. 

Pasindu Sooriyabandara’s magnificent double century stole the limelight of the encounter between Team Galle and Team Jaffna, played today at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. 

Sooriyabandara hit 242 runs off 346 balls with 17 fours as Team Galle amassed a mammoth total – 711/9 on the board at the close of play on Day 2. 

Lakshan Edirisinghe also stood out with a brilliant century for Galle. Sooriyabandara and Edirisinghe stitched together a massive 250-run partnership for the 4th wicket. 

Team Kandy managed to take the upper hand against Team Dambulla in their encounter played today at Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. 

Team Dambulla were knocked over for 207 runs for their first innings as Sithum Dissanayake and Nimsara Atharagalla ripped through their batting lineup, sharing 6 wickets between them. This was in reply to Team Kandy’s first innings score of 276 runs. 

Team Kandy began their second innings 69 runs ahead and posted 156 runs for 4 wickets at the close of play on Day 2. Sithara Gimhana (58) and Kamil Mishara (46) starred with the bat, scoring fine knocks.
