The National and Junior National Aquatic Championships 2022 – Swimming is scheduled to be held from the 4th to 7th of October as a 4-day meet at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.

It will also serve as the final local trial opportunity for the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne from the 13th to 18th of December 2022.

National and Junior National Aquatic Championships is Sri Lanka’s highest-ranked aquatic competition organized by the national governing body, Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union. Here the fastest swimmers who have made the national and junior national qualification cut will compete against each other. The National Championships is open to swimmers who are 13 years and above. And junior national swimmers who are 13 and 14 years of age are eligible to participate. A swimmer is allowed to participate in a maximum of 05 events.

After 2019, it is for the first time SLASU organizes the National and Junior National Championships in 2022. 64 schools and clubs from around Sri Lanka are set to take part in the championships with a total of 316 athletes, 141 females and 175 males.

The current owner of the National Men’s swimming championship is Killer Whale Aquatics. They won it in 2019 for the 5th time. And the women’s title is owned by Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo.

The Junior National Champions in 2019 were girls and boys of Lyceum International School, Wattala winning both girls and boys categories.
