Nalanda take first innings

Wenuka Galahitiyawa of Dharmaraja College bagged a match bag of eight for 73 runs in their drawn U-19 School cricket match against hosts Nalanda at Campbell Place today.

 

Nalanda however won on first innings after restricting Dharmaraja for 201 in response to their first innings score of 239.

Wenuka was the cynosure of all eyes on day one when he picked up six wickets for 51 runs to bowled hosts out for 239 and then claimed two wickets in the second innings for 22 runs as Nalanda made 112 for six at stumps on the final days play. Woshantha Silva who scored 54 in the first innings hit 25 in the second innings.

Malinga Amarasinghe was the pick of the bowler for Nalanda as he picked up five wickets for 58 runs to put Dharmaraja under the hammer despite an impressive half century by Rameesh Ranasinghe. His scored a defiant 72.
