Moors vs Chilaw Marians

Moors SC recorded their first outright victory for the season beating Chilaw Marians by 92 runs at Braybrooke Place.

Kaushalya Gajasinghe and Malinda Pushpakumara shared 7 wickets as they bundled out the visitors for 167 after the hosts’ set a daunting target of 260. For the team from North Central Province, Dinuk Hettiarachchi picked up 7 scalps to end with a 10-wicket match bag.

NCC vs Badureliya

Off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal picked up a 9-wicket match bag as NCC completed a massive innings and 103 runs win over Badureliya CC at NCC grounds.

Skipper Imesh Udayanga (107 & 43) and Nadeera Nawala (50 & 81) were the only two batsmen who stood out for the visitors as the others failed miserably against the experienced NCC bowling unit.

Tamil Union vs SL Ports Authority

Off-spinning batting all-rounder Dhananjaya De Silva starred for Tamil Union as they defeated the defending champions, SL Ports Authority by 9 wickets at Colts grounds.

The former Richmondite took a match bag of 9 wickets and scored 64 runs in both innings to help his new club beat his last year’s club. The match was over with one and half sessions to spare.

Saracens Sports Club were deprived of a well-deserving outright win as time ran-out for them against CCC at Army grounds in Mattegoda.

CCC came away with 11 points at the end thanks to their excellent work in the first-innings. Both captains, Harsha Cooray and Sachith Pathirana led from the front with their performances.

Army SC could not finish off the game with an outright win but had to be satisfied with only a first-innings win against SSC at Maitland Place.

Chasing a daunting target of 341, SSC were 149 for 5 at close of play. Experienced Dimuth Karunaratne prospered with the bat scoring 52 off 105 balls. Earlier, Army SC posted 203 runs in their 2nd innings before declaring their innings. Seekkuge Prasanna starred for the Soldiers.
