22nd Singer-MCA Premier League which commenced last weekend saw another 3 matches being played in 3 venues across Colombo and its suburbs on Wednesday. MAS Unichela, Sampath Bank and Commercial Credit claimed wins with exciting performances during the 3 matches.
MAS Unichela vs Hatton National Bank
Madawa Warnapura’s century was in van as HNB failed to chase down the mammoth target set by MAS Unichela as the latter won the game by 131 runs at BOI ground, Katunayake.
Half-centuries by Mahela Udawatta, Chamara Silva and Niroshan Dickwella propelled MAS Unichela to a massive total of 325. Left-arm pacer Vimukthi Perera captured 3 wickets. Spin twins Sohan Boraless and TM Dilshan captured 3 wickets apiece as MAS Unichele choked down the HNB batting which had only one positive in Madawa Warnapura’s unbeaten century.

20-year old Lahiru Milantha’s century failed to help his company team, John Keels to win the game as Sampath Bank romped to a 5-wicket win at NCC grounds.
Left-handed Milantha struck 118 runs as John Keels made 251 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Rangana Herath claimed 3 wickets for Sampath Bank. Chasing 252 runs to win, Kaushal Silva and Rumesh Buddhika put up a partnership of 138 runs as Sampath Bank reached their target in the 49th over with 5 wickets in hand.

Commercial Credit made 234 runs all out in 39.1 overs after the game was reduced only to 40 overs. Nuwan Kulasekara and Harsha Vithana captured 6 wickets amongst them to help Seylan Bank. Chasing 225 runs in 39 overs, according to the D/L method, Seylan Bank finished on 202/8 in 39 overs.
