Richmond College, St. Joseph’s College, St. Peter’s College, St. Sebastian’s College, Gurukula College and S. Thomas’ College qualified to the quarter finals of the U17 Division 1 Schools Cricket Tournament, as they registered victories in the six pre-quarter final encounters worked off today (16th August), at several venues across the island.

St. Joseph’s College and St. Peter’s College registered comprehensive wins in the pre-quarter finals as both teams recorded 7-wicket victories in their respective encounters. Yenula Dewthusa (3/09), Sahan Dabare (43) starred in the Joes’ victory, while Lashmika Perera (5/29), Sasindu Silva (4/14) and Nethan Devid 50* became the chief architects of the Peterites’ victory.

Gurukula College recorded a thumping win over St. Benedict’s College in their pre-quarter final encounter. A collective bowling effort led by Daham Vimukthi (3/18) and Tharusha Kodikara (3/20) helped the lads from Kelaniya to record a convincing 10-wicket win over St. Benedict’s College.

St. Sebastian’s College also recorded a dominant win against St. Anne’s College in their pre-quarter final encounter. Navod Fernanago (3/27) and Adesh Almeda (58) stole the limelight with match winning performances for St. Sebastian’s College.
