Mercantile Swimming Championship 2014, organised by the Thurstan College Aquatic Club for the President’s Trophy was concluded last Sunday at the Thurstan College Swimming Complex.
Over 400 swimmers from 25 mercantile organisations participated and MAS Holdings, with 999 points, emerged as the winners while John Keells Holding (618 points) and Srilankan Airlines (366 points) became the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
The MAS Holdings team was captained by Shanika Wimalanatha and Vice Captain Dulika Nanyakkara received the President’s Trophy from the chief guest, B. Premalal, Chairman of the Prime Land Group of Companies.
Also present on the occasion were Mahesh Amaleen, Chairman of MAS Holdings, Graetian Gunawardhana, Convener & Adviser of Mercantile Swimming Championship Organising Committee, Maj. General (retired) Dr. Dudley Perera, Chairman of Mercantile Swimming Championship Organising Committee, and Col. Daya Bandara, Principal of Thurstan College.
