The inter school cricket encounter between Maris Stella College and Sri Sumangala College which commenced yesterday concluded today at Panadura making the visitors victorious by an innings and 64 runs.
Maris Stella were 255 all out with Sri Sumangala getting to 48 for 3 in 30 overs at the end of day yesterday. Continuing this morning Sri Sumangala College managed only to get to 97 in the face of the opposition spin attack. Sumangala batsman Sandun Thathsara(18) and Tharuka Nadeeshan (30) were the only noteworthy mentions.. Nalaka De Silva did the damage for Maris Stella with 3 wickets for 23 runs.
Sri Sumangala made to follow-on once again succumbed at 94 in just 47 overs with Tharuka Nadeeshan, Lahiru Vimukthi and Vishad Randika adding some respectability with 21, 19 and 17 runs. Shakila Bhasura with brilliant figures of 5/31 stamped victory for the boys from Negombo while Ruvin Sinnaiah and Viraj Jayamanna chipped with 2 wickets each.
