Malinga top wicket taker as NCC confirm final slot

The two semifinals of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major T20 tournament were worked off today(7) at the P. Sara Oval. 

Army SC vs NCC 

Another devastating spell of fast bowling by the wily old Lasith Malinga led NCC to an emphatic 6 wicket win over Army SC.

Malinga’s 3/14 restricted Army SC to 102 all-out in just 17.1 overs while Sachintha Peiris also chipped in with two wickets. The three wicket haul for ‘slinga’ Malinga also meant that he topped the bowling charts with 16 wickets in just 7 matches.

NCC in reply never looked in trouble as they reached the target in just 14.2 overs. Niroshan Dickwella made an explosive 27 at the top of the order during the run chase while Lahiru Udara and Bhanuka Rajapakse chipped in with 27 and 25 respectively.

CCC vs Tamil Union 

CCC after being in a spot of bother early on managed to recover to 173/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga was the star with the bat making 74 runs while Madawa Warnapura and Lahiru Madusanka chipped in with 35 and 24 runs respectively.

Tamil Union in reply got off to a good start but things started to fall apart  after a cluster of wickets during the middle overs. They were eventually bowled out for 131, handing a 42 run victory to CCC.

Manoj Sarathchandra looked good for his 35 before throwing his wicket away with a careless stroke, while Sachith Pathirana captured 4/17.
