Major Club Limited Over Tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) kicked off today with eight matches taking place at several venues across the island. 

Chilaw Marians CC, Army CC and Ace Capital CC recorded comprehensive wins in their encounters against Saracens SC, Air Force SC and Badureliya Cricket Club respectively.

Several batting performances lit up the opening day of the Major Club Limited Overs Tournament. The left-handed batsman Sonal Dinusha’s 93-run knock for Colombo Cricket Club certainly stood up above the rest.

In addition to that Umesh Karunaratne (81*) of Ace Capital CC, Krishan Sanjula (76) of SSC and former Sri Lankan national cap Thisara Perera playing for Army CC shone with the bat with valuable half-centuries for their respective clubs.

The 38-year old left-arm spinner Chanaka Komasaru had an excellent outing with the ball today where he picked up 6 wickets for just 14 runs for Ace Capital CC. Apart from him, Shenal De Silva (5/41) of Kalutara Town Club and Kavishka Anjula (4/.37) of Colts CC stole the limelight with impressive spells with the ball.

Sri Lankan national cricketer Angelo Mathews was seen returning to domestic cricket today as he represented the Colts Cricket Club where he played a useful knock of 45 runs against Galle CC.

The encounters between Moors Sports Club vs Lankan Cricket Club, Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club vs Panadura Sports Club and Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club vs Kandy Customs Sports Club were called off due to the prevailing rainy conditions in the island.
