Lankan CC, SSC, Tamil Union C & AC and Kandy Customs CC registered wins in the four matches of SLC Major Club Limited Over Tournament, all of which were worked off today at several venues across the island.
Lahiru Dilshan’s magnificent knock of 73 runs and the collective bowling effort led by Rajeewa Weerasinghe (3/14) and Damith Silva (3/15) powered Lankan CC to a comprehensive win over Kalutara TC at Panagoda.
Shammu Ashan’s blistering innings of an unbeaten 84 runs off 53 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 158.49 headlined the encounter between SSC and Badureliya, in which the former managed to register a massive 147-run win.
Despite putting a modest total on the board, Kandy Customs recorded a huge win over Nugegoda S & WC thanks to the all-round efforts of Umega Chathuranga, who stroked 26 runs with the bat while snaring 4 scalps for just 12 runs with the ball.
The Group B encounter between Saracens SC and Tamil Union C & AC witnessed a thrilling finish at P. Sara Oval Grounds in Colombo. Tamil Union managed to hold their nerve at the end to secure a 2-wicket win.
The two individual performances stood out in this game as the leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay showed his tricks with the ball, taking 5-fer, and left hander Navod Paranavithana made a match-winning knock of 60 runs, guiding Tamil Union to the victory in the low scoring thriller.
