Moragasmulla SC defeated New Star SC 4-3 in their group stage encounter in the Premier League Division I at the CR&FC ground.
It was an energetic start from both the teams and Moragasmulla SC managed to speed up their team work by the 3rd minute of the game as H.R.Priyawansa scored after beating the New Star defenders.
New Star came into the game after settling down with attacks coming from the wings. Both the teams were equally pushing each other for good 25 minutes, eager to capture a goal.
The goalkeeper of Moragasmulla SC Ranidu Rukshan was tested by the New Star SC for the first time in the 30th minute by a powerful shot from the New Star striker.
Mohamed Mujizeen marked his presence with a stunning free-kick to equalize the score in the 32nd minute. Mujizeen’s goal was a jaw dropping moment for every spectator as he managed to break through a defensive wall of four players and curved the ball in to the right top corner of the Moragasmulla SC net.
Three first half goals enough as Cooray SC down SLTB
Ranidu kept on giving out a poor performance throughout the first half and Mohamed Anas of New Star capitalized on it as he made a breakthrough in the 39th minute.
The joy was however short lived as Moragasmulla scored straight from the kick-off. Mahesh Kumar showed a very aggressive play and managed to put a smile on their fans with a dramatic equalizer from long range which beat the goalkeeper Mohamed Nafrash in the 40th minute.

The second half commenced with lot of foul plays and free kicks in favor of both the teams.
Dilan Madushanka who went onto score twice, managed to start his scoring from the 55th minute. He managed to beat the New Star SC goalkeeper with his amazing footwork which lead him to kick the ball to the back of the opponents net.
Old Bens fight back stun New Star
16 minutes later Madushanka broke the game of passing and tried playing the ball by his own for a moment which turned out really well for his team and scored again.
Meanwhile the coach of Moragasmulla SC changed his keeper with the substitute keeper Priyantha Perera.
With time running out New Star SC could only find a consolation goal in the 90th minute which was scored by R.Vinothan.
