Sri Lanka U15 boys’ team ended their SAFF U15 Championship with another beating, this time at the hands of India, 5-0.

A 5-0 loss to the Indians highlighted that Sri Lanka football is far behind on technical ability and skills compared to their neighbors.

Sri Lanka came in to the game with no realistic chance of making the final. India on the other hand were already in the final with 2 wins out of 2 and with a goal margin of plus 12.

Coach Aruna Sampath made the 1st change to the starting line up from the first three games when he replaced Irusha Ruwanka with Harasara Silva. India started with a strong line up with all their top performers on the field.

Sri Lanka held on for 30 minutes and looked to give a fight to the superior Indian outfit. In the 32nd minute Himanshu Jangra Singh broke the deadlock with a long range effort along the ground. Tharush Rashmika was unable to keep it away as it went under him.

Immediately after the lead increased with an easy tap in for Maheson Singh in the 38th minute and a huge score line looked imminent.

Himanshu got his second of the game in the 42nd minute and Shubho Paul then made it four before the break, with another easy slide through the keeper after a through ball found him inside the box.

Half Time: Sri Lanka 0 – 4 India

The Indian onslaught continued in the second half as well with wave after wave of attack from both wingers.

The Lankan defense had to work double time as the slick passing Indians kept the ball in procession for long periods of time.

At the hour mark Jangra got his hat-trick for the day with a well taken third goal. Sri Lanka brought in Muhammad Shuhaib in place of Thushmika Jayalath prior to it.

Tharusha Rashmika kept the score intact with some excellent saves and denied the Indian forwards the chance of increasing the score line.

Sri Lanka will prepare once again for the upcoming AFC U16 Championship Qualifiers which will be held in Jordan from 14th to 22nd September.
