Lasindu Ishan, Basnayake suspended!

Punch on CR & FC player results in a red card

Havelock Sports Club’s Lasindu Ishan Karunathilake has been slapped with a two-match suspension after he was found guilty of punching his opposition player during the Havelock SC v CR & FC encounter last weekend.

Last Saturday’s encounter between CR & FC and Havelock SC played for the Mathysz trophy saw Havelock SC winning the game and winning the trophy on aggregate.

The said incident,  took place in the 67th minute of play when Shermal Weerasekara’s late charge on Lasindu Ishan’s shoulder in the breakdown resulted in the Havies #8 throwing a punch at Weerasekara.

The on-field referee took immediate action by sending Lasindu Ishan to the sin-bin and also sent Gayan Jayamanne who was involved in an earlier infringement.

The incident was cited by the Citing Match Commissioner and Havelock Sports Club will be missing Lasindu Ishan for the next two games.

The Pink jersey’s, currently stand second in the Dialog Rugby League 18/19 will play Air Force and Police in the next two weeks.

Kandy physio suspended

Meanwhile, the Kandy Sports Club physio Lasantha Basnaayake has also been suspended for one match following the incident between the match-day doctor at the Police v Kandy SC encounter played at Police Park.

Basnayake will have to sit out of the Kandy v Navy game next week.
