Sri Lanka has decided to oppose a draft proposal to be submitted to the International Cricket Council (ICC) by three countries, including India, which looks to give those three countries greater rights in the ICC.

The decision to oppose the draft proposal was taken at a meeting held this evening between Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Sri Lanka Cricket.

The proposal has been jointly drafted by India, England and Australia and under the proposal even future cricket tours will also be decided by the three countries.

Aluthgamage told a private television station this evening that the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket will meet to take a final decision on the proposal.

The Minister said that the draft proposal is damaging not just to Sri Lanka but even to the other cricket playing nations other than India, Australia and England.

He said that the final stand taken by Sri Lanka Cricket will be conveyed to the ICC this month.
