Kusal Mendis and Binura Fernando will miss Sri Lanka’s upcoming T20I series against England as both players continue their rehabilitation from injuries sustained during the Lanka Premier League 2026.
Mendis suffered a right hamstring injury during the LPL, while Fernando sustained a back injury. Both players are currently undergoing rehabilitation and have not recovered in time for the England series.
Following the latest fitness updates, the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Panel has made two changes to the T20I squad.

Pavan Rathnayake has been named as Mendis’ replacement, while left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka comes into the squad in place of Fernando.
With Mendis unavailable, Charith Asalanka will lead Sri Lanka in the T20I series against England.
The changes come as Sri Lanka prepare for the three-match T20I series, with the first game scheduled for September 15.
