Kumar Sangakkara breaks Don Bradman’s 66-year-old record – Stats

Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara broke the legendary Sir Donald Bradman’s 66-year-old Test record here Saturday on way to scoring his 10th double century. 

When Sangakkara reached 191 today during the fourth day’s play of their first Test against Pakistan, the left-hander surpassed Bradman for the record of the most scores of 190 and above in Test history. He made 221. 

He carried on to reach double ton, his 10th in 127th Test. He is second in the all-time list with Bradman ahead with 12 scores of 200 and above. Sangakkara had completed his 37th Test century yesterday (August 8). Bradman scored 12 double centuries including 2 triples during his great 52-Test career. Last of those 12 came against India in January 1948 in Adelaide. Today, Sangakkara registered his 13th score of 190 and above. He was twice dismissed in 190s (192 on both occasions) and was 199 not out once. The 36-year-old, during this innings today, took his career average past 59, the highest among current Test batsmen.
