It was the final day of the 16th Asian junior Athletics Championship in Taiwan. Kawshalya Madushani won the silver medal in the women’s 400 meters final as she clocked in 62.31 seconds. Unfortunately that was the only glory for the lankan young team for the day.
For the Sri Lankans, the 4 x 400 men’s relay team came a dissapointing 6th in the finals whilst the women’s 4 x 400 relay team came 5th in the finals. Himasha Eashan could not add to his silver medal in the 100 meter dash earlier as he came 6th in the 200 meter finals. U P N Karunasinghe came close to a medal in the men’s triple jump final but just missed it by coming agonising fourth.
As the games came to an end Sri Lanka won two silver medals and one bronze medal. Great effort nevertheless from the Sri Lankans who did a good job in almost every event.
