Josephian Relay Championship 2016

The Inaugural edition of the Josephian Relay Championship will take place at the Sports Ministry (Torrington) Grounds, Colombo 7 on the 24th of September 2016 from 08.30 am onwards.

An event organized by the sports council of St. Joseph’s College in hand with the Athletic Advisory Committee (AAC), the Josephian Relay Carnival will be a unique event where  08 invited Boys’ Schools will be paired with 08 of their sister schools to compete for the ultimate relay championship. This event format will focus on relays for boys’ and girls’ schools of various age groups including present and past pupils of the invited institutions. The main focus of this endeavor is to strengthen the bond and the camaraderie amongst the past and present athletes of the invited schools.

An interesting array of relays will take place with a mixed relay for the past pupils of the respective brother/sister schools where the teams will comprise of 02 male and 02 female runners.

Age Group Categories for present athletes of the both Boys’ and Girls’ Schools

• Under 14 Age Group Category – A.G 1
• Under 15 Age Group Category – A.G 2
• Under 17 Age Group Category- A.G 3
• Under 19 Age Group Category- A.G 4

Age Group Categories for past athletes of the both Boys’ and Girls’ Schools

• Age 19-25 (Over 19 and Below 25) – A.G 5
• Age 25-35 (Over 25 and Below 35) – A.G 6
• Age 35+ (Over 35) – A.G 7

Present School Athletes

1. 4*100M – A.G 1/2/3/4
2. 4*200M – A.G 1/2/3/4
3. Medley Relay (400M -> 300M -> 200M -> 100M) – only for A.G 2/3/4

Past School Athletes

1. 4*100M (Mixed Relay) – A.G 5/6/7
2. 4*200M – A.G 5/6/7
3. Medley Relay – 400M -> 300M -> 200M -> 100M – only for A.G

*The mixed relay allows 2 athletes of each brother/sister School. The 1st and 3rd laps are given for the female athletes whilst the 2nd and 4th laps are given to the male athletes of the respective brother/sister school.
