The match between Good Shepherd Convent and St. Joseph`s Girls’ School was played at the Good Shepherd Convent basketball court premises. The hosts failing to keep up the consistency in their rhythm walked away in despair as the final score read 56-45 in favor of the visitors.

Both teams stepped into the game after registering wins in their 1st matches prior to this. Good Shepherd Convent won against Lyceum International School – Wattala 42-40. St. Joseph`s Girls won their first match against St. Lawrence Convent 76-25.

Chalani Perera got the party started for the visitors as she shot from downtown and it was equally answered by Hansini Maleesha from GSC. The scorecard was squared inside the first few minutes. Even though GSC started the game with a three pointer they lost pace towards the rest of the quarter as they only added another three points for the remainder of minutes. The visitors continued their hunt for shots as they closed down the quarter scoring thirteen points.

SJC starting off the second quarter with a seven-point lead and extended it as Rashmi Taniya swished the nets once again for another three points. The home team found their touch in this quarter as they scored thirteen points. Yet, once again the opponents won the quarter scoring two more than the hosts adding on fifteen points. Chalani Perera added seven points while the rest were chipped in by Rashmi and Nihani Perera.

The key factor for SJC was the consistency in their performance. They kept on ticking the score board and it was a complete team performance from them. All five players in the middle contributed to the score line. They scored fourteen points in the third quarter while the hosts only managed to score ten points even though Hansini Maleesha started off with a three pointer.

The final six hundred seconds ticked off with a thirteen point SJC lead. Good Shepherd convent fought hard to get a foot back into the game, scoring fourteen points in the final quarter. But the shots that they failed to convert in the beginning haunted them towards the latter part of the game.

Chalani Perera scored a couple of three pointers in the end to book their spot in the tournament semifinals.
